What do we do
Multatuli Travel is the green partner for Dutch non-profit organisations that work towards improving and sustaining health, education, the environment and human rights. Our agency mediates between these organisations and airlines. We offer our clients special NGO fares which are characterised by flexible terms and extra facilities.
Reservations
It is our aim to aid you in all aspects of planning your trip. This covers everything from making recommendations to securing a booking. You will receive an estimate, free of obligation, containing all costs and terms involved in your fare. We also provide tickets for travel by train and boat.
Visas/ Vaccinations
A visa and vaccinations are often required for visits to developing countries. Our employees will gladly inform you as to whether or not you will need one for your trip. Do bear in mind that the traveller is responsible for making sure they are in possession of the proper visas. We advise you to stay abreast of the latest developments by checking the information on Embassy Services. It is sometimes necessary to obtain a transit visa for the purpose of changing planes. Please visit www.lcr.nl for further information on the required visas.
Delivery Services
Multatuli employs the services of Valid Express to deliver documents within the Netherlands.
Travel Insurance
We partner with De Europeesche to provide travel or cancellation insurance. We recommend annual travel or cancellation insurance for those who travel regularly.
Travel documents
In general all tickets are issued electronically and sent by email. In the event that an airline does issue a paper ticket, we will send it by registered mail through TNT. The fee for this is equal to the TNT postage fare. Alternately the ticket can be collected at Schiphol.
Accommodation
We provide hotel accommodation within the Netherlands and overseas. Our advanced reservations system, Amadeus, allows us to immediately confirm bookings. We point out that the internet also offers many possibilities to make hotel reservations.
Car rental
If so desired we will provide for a rental car at your destination. For safety reasons we choose to work only with well known car rental companies.
Schiphol Service Desk
We have access to a service desk at Schiphol: Service Wings. This desk is generally open from 5.00 till 21.00 to enable you to collect your travel documents.
Schiphol Airport
See www.schiphol.nl for information on checking in, arrival and departure times and directions to the airport.
Postponing your trip
Airlines sometimes overbook flights. While they are fully within their rights to do this, they also have the responsibility to provide alternative travel arrangements for passengers and are in some cases obligated to pay compensation. The rights of passengers have been determined by the European Parliament and cover all departures from within Europe. For further information: Denied Boarding Compensation. (Or call 0800 67891011)
EU Ban
The European Travel commission has comprised a list of airlines that do not meet the safety standards required to be allowed to operate in European air space. You will be informed if one of these airlines is included in your itinerary. We refer you to the website of the European Commission for a list of these airlines.
Public Transportation
For public transportation to and from the airport we refer you to www.9292ov.nl.

The ministry of foreign affairs provides all information as it pertains to travelling in crisis areas. A travel warning can influence the fee charged for cancelling a reservation.
